While modern connectors have largely dominated today’s electronic landscape, DIN connectors still hold critical roles across numerous industries and applications. Industrial control systems, professional audio equipment, specialized instrumentation, and, to a certain extent, legacy computer interfaces all rely on these circular connectors. As a manufacturer focused on legacy and more specialized forms of connectivity, replacing functional equipment simply because of connector compatibility is something we know to be both impractical and costly for businesses.
We manufacture DIN cables tailored to the specific requirements of such professional and industrial applications. A wide range of configurations is available – the classic 5-pin DIN (MIDI being the prime example, older keyboard connections being another) up through less commonly seen 8-pin DIN 41524 type connectors and all multi-pin circular connectors. Precision-machined connectors with secure locking mechanisms are a constant feature; accidental disconnection must be prevented, especially in vibration-prone environments. Appropriate gauge wiring and all necessary types of shielding are employed to at least partially maintain signal integrity in more electrically noisy settings.
Their very applied durability and near-perfect design for the end use sets our DIN cables apart. Industrial environments call for reinforced strain relief and/or oil-resistant jackets, and audio applications benefit from optimized (to the user) shielding. Corrosion-resistant contacts and housing are another part of the long-term reliability we aim for. Frequent mating cycles are to be expected in all applications.
Standard and custom lengths are both available. Maintaining or reintroducing a connection to older but still functional equipment is a real and essential part of our business. DIN cables are and will always be, to us at least, a part of that future.
Products By Features

Industrial Control and Automation
DIN connectors are the interface used primarily in industrial environments. These find application for connecting control systems in a multi-pin design language. The round shape of both plug and receptacle mating and the keying feature provide correct alignment when connecting, while the positive locking system allows for high vibration-resistant connections. These connectors typically connect to PLC I/O modules, sensor banks, and control panels that require transmitting various signal types (digital, analog, and power) through a single rugged connection point.

The Mechanical Advantages of Circular Connectors
The circular shell of DIN connectors provides exceptional mechanical performance over traditional rectangular connectors. The construction guarantees the equal distribution of mating forces, higher back resistance, and better vibration performance or frequent connecting cycles. The metal shell versions have excellent EMI/RFI shielding, and the plastic body offers more economical solutions for less rugged applications.
Pin Configuration
DIN Connectors are pin-based connectors, and they come in different numbers of pin types, ranging from 3 to 8 pins, the most popular, with keying features that will prevent mating of unlike devices. This flexibility empowers engineers to choose the perfect connector for their signal, power, and data needs. The keyed system allows connectors to be mated only in the correct orientation, thus preventing damage caused by miswiring.

Mini DIN Variants and Applications
Mini-DINs are a family of smaller versions in the DIN series, notable for their compact 6-pin version, widely used as connectors for computer keyboards and mice. Various Mini-DIN connectors have been used for applications including video signals (S-Video). Still, they were physically incompatible with the width of the cable and the distance between pins to make successful connections.
Customized
Standard DIN cables do not always meet the more unique application requirements that arise in various industries. Custom DIN solutions are our specialty; specific pin configurations, unusual length requirements, and all forms of specialized shielding (electromagnetic being one of the more common challenges) are all within our scope of service. An engineering team at our company works closely with the client to define and develop those solutions to connectivity problems they may face.

DIN connectors refer to the original, larger circular connectors; Mini-DIN is essentially a smaller version. Common examples of Mini-DIN include PS/2 keyboard/mouse connectors (6-pin) and S-Video connectors (4-pin).
Less common in consumer electronics but widely used in industrial controls, professional audio, medical equipment, and various other applications where some form of robustness and near-perfect reliability is required.
Yes, hybrid cables are frequently manufactured—one end DIN, the other of a more modern type (DB9, USB being the prime examples)—to interface legacy equipment with current systems.
Standard DIN connectors range from 3 to 8 pins, specialized versions going higher if needed for particular applications.
Many feature bayonet-style locking; secure mating is the desired result, and vibration or movement is the primary concern in most applications.
Weather-resistant versions are offered, IP-rated if required. Standard DIN is intended for indoor use.
Yes, power and signals can be carried depending on the pin and wire gauge. Specifying the right cable is part of our service.
250V AC is the near-universal standard. Again, it is manufacturer-specific, but we can guarantee that level of safety and/or performance.
