USB Type E Extension Cable
When a front-panel lead falls short of the motherboard header, BC-DAF003 adds routing reach without changing the connector family. Its flat, flexible construction helps fit the internal connection around the layout of a compact PC or custom enclosure.
- Internal USB Type-E male-to-female extension.
- Standard length: 0.5m.
- Listed data capability: up to 20Gbps with a compatible complete connection.
- Listed power capability: up to 5V/3A (15W), subject to the host and downstream assembly.
- FPC construction for space-conscious internal routing.
- Passive extension; no speed conversion or signal regeneration.
Extend the Header Connection Without Pulling the Front-Panel Lead
USB Type-E Extension Cable
A motherboard header and a chassis front-panel lead do not always meet in a convenient place. BC-DAF003 extends the internal Type-E connection so the lead can follow a practical route rather than being pulled taut across the board. It is intended for system builders and enclosure integrators who need additional reach while keeping the existing front-panel interface.

Check the Whole Path Before Choosing 20Gbps
Type-E describes the internal connection, not a guarantee that every motherboard offers the same USB speed. A 20Gbps result requires support throughout the host controller, header, extension, front-panel cable, and connected device. A slower component limits the connection. Adding length and another connector also changes the electrical path, so validate the assembled system with the intended peripherals.
If you need an external USB-C port rather than an extension of an existing internal lead, compare our Type-E-to-Type-C cable options. For the extension shown here, send a photo of the header and a routing sketch so we can review the fit before you order.
Flat Routing Needs Room to Bend
Flat construction is useful when a conventional round lead crowds a cover or crosses a narrow gap. Plan a smooth route with clearance at both connectors, then secure the cable so servicing the front panel does not pull on the motherboard header.
Flexible does not mean crease-proof or rated for continuous motion. Avoid sharply folding the FPC, pinching it under a panel, or assuming an unverified minimum bend radius. If your installation needs repeated movement, specify the motion and expected life for a separate suitability review.

It can carry power over a compatible internal USB connection, with a listed limit of 5V/3A. Actual charging depends on the motherboard, front-panel assembly, and device. The extension does not increase the power available from the host.
The flat profile helps route the cable through space-constrained enclosures. It still needs protection from sharp folds, abrasion, and pinching. Agree on continuous-flex performance and a minimum bend radius separately, rather than inferring them from flexibility.
A compatible USB connection normally operates at the speed supported by the host and device. Include the actual lower-speed peripherals in your sample evaluation, especially when an existing front-panel cable is also part of the path.
No such capability is specified for BC-DAF003. Use it for the intended USB data and 5V power path, not as a video cable, Thunderbolt extension, or eGPU interconnect.
No. 5V multiplied by 3A is 15W. That rating does not demonstrate higher-voltage USB Power Delivery negotiation, and the available current still depends on the source and the complete assembly.
No. It extends one existing internal Type-E connection without adding ports or a hub controller. Any downstream hub must be a separate compatible device with its own power and data requirements.
Avoid sharp creases and bending immediately at the connector termination. Share the routing space or a drawing if the available bend is tight; the flat construction alone is not evidence that a particular bend radius is safe.
Yes, as the internal extension between a compatible motherboard and front-panel assembly. The SSD connects to the external USB port, not directly to this internal Type-E connector. The complete path determines the negotiated speed and transfer performance.
Send BC-DAF003, the required quantity and length, the motherboard model, photos of the mating connector, and the front-panel module details. Include target speed, power demand, and sample-test requirements so the proposal can address your actual installation.

How to Plan an Internal Type-E Extension
Measure the installed route
Measure along the route the cable will actually take, not straight across the motherboard. Include space to mate and remove the connectors, and check that the 0.5m extension plus the existing chassis lead will not leave an unnecessary loop near a fan. A little service slack is helpful; excess unsupported cable is not.
Identify both mating connectors
Send a clear photo of the motherboard header and the plug on the existing front-panel cable. Type-E is different from the older 19/20-pin USB 3.0 header and the 9-pin USB 2.0 header. This male-to-female assembly extends the same interface; it does not convert those older headers or add another USB controller.
Keep data and power requirements separate
The listed 20Gbps capability does not establish charging wattage. BC-DAF003 is listed for up to 5V/3A (15W). The host must provide the required current, and the rest of the connection must support it. Do not treat this as a promise of higher-voltage USB Power Delivery, or assume a front-panel port gains more charging power after adding an extension.
Test a representative system
Before a production order, evaluate a sample with the actual motherboard, front-panel module, and devices. Check device detection, the negotiated USB speed, sustained transfers appropriate to your application, reconnection and power behavior under load. Include lower-speed peripherals if they are part of the intended use. Agree on any reports or inspection criteria needed for purchasing approval.
