A Short Extension at the Device End

USB Printer Extension Cable for Short Type-B Connections

Gain a little routing room at the printer without replacing the entire cable run. BC-DAB007 is a short USB 2.0 Standard-B male-to-female extension (0.25 m), with straight and angled male-end options for installations where the existing plug is hard to reach or points the wrong way.

The male end connects to a compatible device port; the female end accepts the Standard-B plug on your existing USB 2.0 cable. This is a local routing accessory, not a long-distance USB solution. It contains no signal booster and does not reset the limits of the complete connection.

Use a USB-A to USB-B printer cable for a complete direct host-to-device connection. If you need a much longer route, consider an active USB printer cable instead of chaining passive extensions.

Adjust the Last Part of the Cable Route

Sometimes the main cable is already neatly routed, but the plug is inconvenient at the device. A short Type-B extension can move that connection point or change the exit direction without disturbing the entire installation.

Choose a straight or angled male plug to match the actual port orientation. Keep the female junction accessible and supported, with enough room to disconnect it for service. Avoid leaving the joined plugs under tension.

Send a photo of the final part of the route and tell us what needs to change. We can review whether this short extension, an angled direct cable, or a panel-mount assembly is the most appropriate starting point for evaluation.

Can I request a different extension length?

Send the required length and the existing cable length, along with the host and peripheral models. We can review the request, but a longer passive extension is not automatically a suitable solution for a longer USB route.

Will the extension repair a loose or damaged printer socket?

No. A damaged or loose device receptacle needs appropriate inspection and repair. Adding an extension does not restore its contacts or mechanical support. Do not use the cable to hold a damaged connection in place.

Does the extension need its own driver?

No separate driver is used by this passive cable assembly. The printer or other peripheral still needs the software and driver required by its manufacturer. A successful mechanical fit does not replace those software requirements.

Can this replace the printer power adapter?

No. A printer that requires a separate power supply still needs it. This extension does not increase the host power available to a USB-powered peripheral. Tell us about any bus-powered device so we can review the complete connection and voltage-drop requirements.

Can I evaluate an angled sample before a production order?

Yes. Identify the male-end direction and required length in your sample inquiry. Confirm sample pricing, freight, and availability before supply. Test both the fit and normal device operation with the existing cable you intend to keep.

When a Short USB-B Extension Is the Right Choice

A short extension can solve a mechanical inconvenience: a hard-to-reach cable end, a plug that needs to turn beside a cabinet, or a small gap between an existing lead and the peripheral. It is less useful when the underlying problem is an unreliable or overly long USB connection.

Confirm what is being extended

This female socket accepts a USB 2.0 Standard-B male plug. It does not accept a USB-A plug, and it is not a USB 3.0 Standard-B extension. Compare both ends of the existing cable and the device port before ordering. A connector-family match also does not establish compatibility with a non-USB interface that uses a similar housing.

Choose the cable exit from a real port view

For an angled version, photograph the device port directly and mark the required cable direction. Include the surrounding enclosure and any nearby connectors. A port’s position on a printer does not alone determine which angle fits; receptacle orientation and available clearance also matter.

Evaluate the entire link, not the extra 0.25 m alone

The added lead introduces cable length and another mating interface. It does not regenerate data, compensate for a poor existing cable, or guarantee a USB 2.0 High-Speed connection. Test it with the intended host, original cable, and peripheral. If the connection is already intermittent, first establish that the direct cable works reliably.

Support the connection without pulling on the port

Route the lead so the joined connectors are not hanging under cable tension or pressed against a sharp edge. Leave room for a relaxed bend, and check the arrangement when you move the device for maintenance. If the connection must be fixed to a panel, use a purpose-designed USB-B panel-mount cable rather than relying on this loose extension for mechanical retention.

Decide whether replacing the main cable is simpler

For a new equipment build, a single cable with the required connector orientation can avoid an additional joint. For a retrofit where the main route is already installed, a short extension may be practical after evaluation. Describe which situation applies, and we can review the relevant options with you.

For an accurate quotation, send photos of the existing plug and device port, the current cable length, and the requested exit direction and quantity. Include any recess dimensions or service-access constraints that affect the fit.
