SATA Power to 8-Pin

BC-DAG020 offers SATA male power plugs connected to eight-position cable housings, with single- and dual-SATA layouts for application-specific review. Compare the pictured connector construction before specifying a replacement or OEM harness.

  • Model A: one SATA male plug with a 6+2-position connector.
  • Model B: two SATA male plugs with a 6+2-position connector.
  • Model C: two SATA male plugs with an eight-position housing.
  • Passive power wiring; no voltage conversion or data function.
  • Pin assignment, source arrangement, and load must match the equipment.
  • Not a universal graphics card, CPU, or modular PSU power lead.

A Clear Specification Before a Power Connection

SATA Power to 8-Pin Cable for Defined OEM Connections

A familiar plug shape is only the beginning of a power-cable specification. BespokeCable BC-DAG020 gives OEM buyers three photographed layouts to discuss against an existing drawing or equipment requirement. The useful differences are the number of SATA male plugs and the construction of the eight-position end—not an assumed increase in available power.

The SATA ends shown in this range have exposed male contacts. They are not the female sockets normally fitted to a lead that plugs into a SATA drive. Therefore, do not order these assemblies as an eight-pin-to-two-drive splitter. They also contain no converter that can create a missing voltage rail.

Compare the Photographed Models

ModelVisible configuration
BC-DAG020-AOne SATA male plug; 6+2-position cable connector with latch
BC-DAG020-BTwo SATA male plugs; 6+2-position cable connector with latch
BC-DAG020-CTwo SATA male plugs; eight-position cable housing with latch

The photographs help distinguish mechanical layouts. They do not establish interchangeable pinouts, approved equipment compatibility, or a tested current rating. Confirm the mating connector and wiring for the selected model.

Choose the Correct Power-Cable Family

For a graphics card, use the native power cable or adapter explicitly approved by the GPU and power-supply manufacturers. A SATA-to-eight-pin harness is not automatically a substitute when a PSU lacks the required output. The receiving connector cannot increase the capacity of the upstream SATA contacts, wire, or supply.

An eight-pin CPU/EPS connection is also not interchangeable with an eight-pin PCIe connection. Modular PSU sockets introduce another model-specific pinout. Do not force a connector or rely on the number of positions to choose a cable.

If you actually need to power a SATA drive from an approved board output, review the motherboard-specific SATA power harnesses. If the task is extending an existing drive-power lead, use the SATA power extension range as the starting point.

Send the Details That Make a Quote Useful

Share the equipment references, connector-face photos, and any existing harness drawing. Add the required routing dimensions, expected load, and quantity. We can review the appropriate layout and the construction needed for your project, or recommend a different connection when the shown arrangement is unsuitable.

Identify the Eight-Position Interface

The detachable two-position section on models A and B is part of the connector arrangement; it is not extra power capacity. Model C is photographed with an eight-position housing, so confirm the required construction instead of treating all three ends as identical.

A latch or matching key does not validate the electrical assignment. Identify the receiving interface as PCIe, CPU/EPS, a modular-PSU socket, or a custom equipment connection, and use its approved pin map. These interfaces must not be substituted solely because they have eight positions.

Send a clear mating-face photograph and the equipment reference with your inquiry. For an existing harness, include both ends and its part marking so the review starts with the correct connection.

BC-DAG020-A harness with one SATA male power plug and a latched 6+2-position connector
Is this a general replacement for a graphics-card power cable?

No. Use the native lead or adapter explicitly approved for your GPU and PSU. Do not select BC-DAG020 solely because the receiving device has an eight-pin socket. Its source arrangement, wiring, and permissible load require application-specific review.

Can it turn an ordinary PCIe power lead into a SATA drive supply?

Not as described in the photos. Their SATA ends are male plugs, not drive-power sockets, and the cable is passive. It cannot generate the 5 V rail many drives need from a conventional 12 V PCIe supply.

What distinguishes models A, B and C?

A has one SATA male plug and a 6+2-position end. B has two SATA male plugs and a 6+2-position end. C has two SATA male plugs with an eight-position housing. Confirm the precise mating interface and wiring diagram for the chosen configuration.

Is the 6+2 connector interchangeable with an eight-pin CPU connector?

No. PCIe and CPU/EPS power connections have different assignments and keying. A similar number of positions does not make them interchangeable. Follow the equipment documentation and never force a housing into a socket.

Does using two SATA plugs double the available power?

No. The source wiring may be shared, and passive branches do not automatically split current equally. Evaluate the complete supply path and load. Do not combine independent PSUs through the dual-SATA harness.

What wattage is guaranteed for the complete adapter?

No universal wattage is stated here. A connector-interface rating is not a tested rating for this assembly. The quoted construction, source connection, load, and operating environment must be reviewed together before acceptance.

Can I plug it directly into a modular PSU?

Do not assume compatibility. PSU-side wiring is model- and cable-family-specific, even where housings appear similar. Use the PSU manufacturer’s approved compatibility information; this range is not presented as a universal modular PSU cable.

Does the cable include overcurrent protection or voltage regulation?

No active regulation, current balancing, or protective electronics are claimed. Treat it as a passive wiring harness. Required protection and correct voltage rails must be provided by the approved system design.

Does eight-pin mean PCIe x8 data capability?

No. The contact count on this power connector is unrelated to the number of PCIe data lanes. The harness does not carry a SATA data link or provide an expansion-slot interface.

Can the length and split position be customized?

We can review the total length, branch dimensions, routing, and identification for an OEM build. Include the source and load details, since changes to length or wire construction must be assessed electrically as well as mechanically.

Can you quote against an existing harness sample?

Send clear photographs, part markings, equipment references, and any available drawings. A sample helps identify construction but does not, by itself, prove a safe current rating. Agree on the wiring, materials, and acceptance requirements for the replacement.

What should I include in a first inquiry?

Provide the model of interest, source and receiving equipment, connector-face photographs, pin map, expected load, route dimensions, and quantity. State any required documentation or evaluation tests so the quotation addresses the actual application.

Specify an Eight-Position Power Harness Without Guesswork

Procurement teams often receive a brief request like “SATA to eight-pin cable.” That phrase can mean several different jobs: replacing a documented harness, connecting a custom device, or adding a power output the original system doesn’t provide. Establish which job you have before requesting samples.

Start with the equipment, not a connector count

Record the source and receiving-device models, including hardware revision where relevant. Specify which connector supplies power and which receives it. An eight-position connector on a modular PSU has a manufacturer-specific assignment; a graphics-card connector and a CPU/EPS connector are different interfaces too.

If you’re powering a graphics card, first check the GPU and PSU manufacturers’ required connection. A native or explicitly approved lead is the preferred choice. Do not use an adapter to work around a missing supply capability or assume that the presence of eight positions proves a particular wattage.

Describe the SATA end accurately

The BC-DAG020 photographs show SATA male contact blades. A buyer who needs female drive-power sockets is requesting a different assembly. On the dual-SATA versions, the two plugs are not two outputs for two drives. Establish their intended source arrangement before comparing branch lengths or asking for a production quote.

Where two plugs feed a common harness, the complete wiring must be reviewed. Two SATA sockets on a single PSU lead may share upstream conductors. Passive branches do not balance current, and independent power supplies must not be combined through this cable.

Separate a wiring map from a power rating

A continuity map shows which contacts connect. It does not establish how much current the finished assembly can carry in its enclosure. The source lead, terminals, joins, conductor size, length, ambient conditions, and receiving load all affect the application review.

Define steady and transient demand, and agree on any thermal or voltage-drop evaluation required for the exact configuration. Do not copy a general connector-interface rating into the cable specification as a tested assembly rating. A passive adapter also cannot create a 5 V rail from a conventional 12 V PCIe source.

Capture dimensions that matter during installation

Measure the actual route, including bends and access for the latch. For models B and C, give the two branch lengths and the desired split position. Allow the cable to be supported without pulling sideways on the SATA plugs or sharply folding conductors at the housing.

Photographs are useful for initial identification, but a controlled drawing should resolve connector orientation, pin numbering, and length reference points. This reduces the chance of a mechanically similar but electrically different replacement reaching the assembly line.

Make sample approval traceable

List the model suffix, drawing revision, component requirements, and proposed checks on the sample request. Agree the acceptance criteria before evaluation. Any compatibility statement or test result should name the actual configuration and equipment rather than a broad family of computers or graphics cards.

For repeat orders, keep the approved pin map, labels, and allowed substitutions together with the purchasing specification. Send your source, load, and routing details so we can discuss a suitable harness configuration and provide a quotation tied to those requirements.
