Plan the Power Route Around Your Drives
SATA Power Cable for HDD, SSD and OEM Drive Harnesses
A drive upgrade often needs a better power route, not another bundle of spare cable. BespokeCable BC-DAG016 SATA power cables connect an existing compatible power lead to SATA drives, with connector layouts that help accommodate adjacent bays and limited rear clearance. Select the input connection first, then choose the branch arrangement around your enclosure.
These are passive power harnesses. They don’t transfer SATA data, regulate voltage, or increase the upstream supply’s capacity. Each connected drive needs the correct voltage rails and enough startup current through the complete power path.
Compare the BC-DAG016 Configurations
| Model | Connection arrangement | Selection focus |
|---|---|---|
| BC-DAG016-A | 4-pin peripheral input to two right-angle SATA power outputs with latches | Use with a compatible peripheral power lead; confirm drive rail and pin-3 requirements |
| BC-DAG016-B | SATA power input to two straight SATA power outputs | For two nearby drives where straight cable exits fit the installation |
| BC-DAG016-C | SATA power input to two right-angle SATA power outputs with latches | Check cable-exit direction and latch clearance against the actual drive mounting |
| BC-DAG016-D | Multi-connector SATA power harness | Use the pictured routing as a reference; confirm input/output count, connector gender, and spacing on the order drawing |

The SATA cable range also includes data and combined assemblies. If your task is to add reach without adding another drive, compare the SATA extension options and specify the power-only version.
Compare SATA Power Harness Options
Choose the source connector and cable-exit direction before comparing branch lengths. Each output shares the upstream power path; adding connectors does not add available current.

P/N: BC-DAG016-A
Bring power from a compatible 4-pin peripheral lead to two SATA drives using right-angle, latched outputs. This layout suits installations with limited space behind the drive. Confirm the required voltage rails and pin 3 behavior before selecting it for a specific HDD or SSD.

P/N: BC-DAG016-B
Split an existing SATA power connection into two straight drive-side outputs. The branching layout can simplify wiring to adjacent bays when the cable has room to leave each connector. When requesting your assembly, specify the drive models, branch lengths, and combined startup load.

P/N: BC-DAG016-C
Choose dual right-angle, latched outputs when a straight connector would crowd the enclosure. Check each cable exit direction against the mounted drives, not just the catalog view. Share a chassis photo and the required branch spacing for a practical routing review.

P/N: BC-DAG016-D
Use this multi-connector SATA harness as a starting point for a tailored drive layout. The pictured cable shows its routing style; the order drawing should define input and output counts, mating faces, and connector spacing. Include the power-source details and drive list with your inquiry.
Check Cable Exit and Service Clearance
A right-angle connector can leave more room behind a drive, but only when its cable exit follows the available route. The BC-DAG016-C photo shows two right-angle outputs with latches. Check the drive orientation, neighboring data connector, and enclosure wall before choosing the layout.
For an OEM drawing, record the distance from the input to each drive, which way the wires leave each output, and the space needed to release the latch during servicing. A short service loop helps; pulling a branch tight can put unnecessary load on the drive connector.
Send a photo with the drive installed, not just a loose connector. It helps us discuss branch spacing and exit direction with your assembly team, while the drive labels and supply specification establish the electrical requirements. Mechanical fit and electrical compatibility are separate checks.

No. BC-DAG016 is a power-harness series using 15-pin SATA power connections. You need a separate 7-pin data cable or another appropriate data path to communicate with the drive.
It can be configured for compatible SATA drives, but check each drive model’s voltage and current requirements. Many 2.5-inch drives use 5V; 3.5-inch HDDs commonly require both 5V and 12V. Physical fit alone doesn’t confirm electrical compatibility.
Power Disable is a feature some drives implement on pin 3 of the SATA power connector. Treat it according to the drive documentation. Do not assume every harness supports remote power control or that removing 3.3V is correct for every drive.
The safe load depends on the selected terminals, conductors, length, shared input, temperature, and installation. Specify each drive’s startup and operating current for review. A connector pin count is not a verified current or wattage rating for the assembly.
No. The pictured inputs connect to matching peripheral leads, not arbitrary modular PSU sockets. A direct PSU cable must match the exact PSU model and approved pinout. Never choose a replacement solely because the housing fits.
No. The A and C configurations show latches on the right-angle SATA outputs. Check the chosen connector and mating hardware. A latch alone does not make a connector suitable for a vibration-rated or hot-swap installation.
Send the length measured along the intended route and the distance to each drive. We can review the layout, wire selection, and required tolerances for a quotation. The acceptable length depends on the load and voltage-drop requirements, not on one universal limit.
A conventional 4-pin peripheral connection supplies 5V, 12V, and ground; it does not provide a dedicated 3.3V rail. The passive harness does not generate an additional voltage. Confirm that this wiring meets the selected drive’s requirements.
Do not assume that adding outputs makes more power available. Every added drive shares an upstream path and adds startup demand. Review the full wiring arrangement and the ratings of all connectors, conductors, and the supply before expanding it.
State the documents and acceptance tests needed for your market or equipment. Availability must be confirmed for the quoted assembly and components. Do not present a material rating or a connector supplier’s report as certification for every finished harness.
Use the picture as a routing reference, then confirm the actual number of inputs and outputs, connector genders, and spacing on a drawing. This avoids treating the number of visible connector bodies as a guarantee of the number of drive outputs.
Include source-connector photos, PSU or source-lead details, drive models, required lengths and spacing, quantity, and delivery market. Add any labeling, packaging, and documentation requirements. Confirm sampling, minimum order quantity, and lead time against that specification.

Planning a SATA Drive Power Harness
A useful harness makes drive installation repeatable: the connectors reach the right positions, the wiring carries the intended load, and technicians can identify the assembly without guessing. For BC-DAG016 orders, start with the source lead and the drive list, then build the drawing around the enclosure.
Distinguish a Peripheral Lead from a Modular PSU Socket
The SATA and 4-pin peripheral inputs shown here connect to matching peripheral power leads. They are not a promise of direct compatibility with the sockets on a modular power supply. The PSU-side wiring must match the exact manufacturer and model; an identical-looking housing is not enough.
Provide the PSU model and a clear photo of the existing cable end. If you need a direct modular-PSU replacement, identify that requirement separately and obtain an approved pin map. Do not substitute a cable from another PSU simply because it plugs in.
Budget Each Voltage Rail and the Shared Input
Read the drive specification for operating and startup demand. Many 2.5-inch SATA drives use 5V, while 3.5-inch HDDs commonly need both 5V and 12V, but the actual drive label and manual take priority. For multiple drives, assess the combined load on each rail, including simultaneous spin-up where applicable.
The shared input, conductors, and terminals carry the downstream demand. A splitter does not multiply the rating of that path. Cable length, wire gauge, contact resistance, and temperature also affect voltage drop and heating. Specify the load and installation conditions so an appropriate assembly can be reviewed; do not calculate a universal wattage from the connector count.
Check Pin 3 Before Calling a Drive Incompatible
Some SATA drives use power disable on pin 3 of the power connector. Applying the wrong signal there can keep a supported drive from starting. Other drives have different requirements, so neither supplying nor omitting 3.3V is a universal fix.
A conventional 4-pin peripheral supply provides 5V, 12V, and grounds, not a dedicated 3.3V rail. A passive cable does not create a missing voltage. Match the harness wiring to the drive documentation and resolve pin-3 behavior in the drawing instead of modifying connectors during installation.
Make Routing and Service Access Part of the Drawing
Measure along the intended cable route, including bends and the distance between drives. Note the mating face and cable exit at each connector. Allow access to any release latch and keep wires away from fan blades, sharp edges, and hot surfaces. Disconnect the connector body, not the wires.
Shut down and isolate power before fitting or changing the harness. A cable with SATA connectors does not make a system hot-swappable; that requires support across the drive, enclosure, controller, and power arrangement. Keep data wiring separate unless you have specified a combined assembly. A 7-pin SATA data cable handles the data link.
Define Acceptance Before Ordering in Volume
Agree on the drawing revision, approved components, continuity and pin-map checks, dimensional tolerances, and any load or temperature-rise validation needed for the application. Ask for documentation tied to the selected materials and assembly rather than treating a generic certification logo as proof for every variant.
For a quote, send the connector photos, source-lead or PSU details, drive models, quantity, routed lengths, and required branch spacing. Include destination-market documentation and labeling or packaging needs. We can then discuss a BC-DAG016 configuration around a defined installation rather than an unspecified power rating.
