SATA Extension Cable
Give an existing SATA connection the extra reach your enclosure needs. The BC-DAG015 series includes separate data, power, and combined-interface extensions, so you can extend the connection that’s too short.
- Male-to-female options: 7-pin data, 13-pin Slimline SATA, 15-pin power and 22-pin data plus power.
- Standard and locking-latch 22-pin configurations.
- Passive extensions: no protocol conversion, voltage conversion, or signal regeneration.
- Data-bearing configurations are available for links up to 6Gb/s, subject to the complete connection.
- Send connector photos, existing cable length, and required added reach for an OEM or bulk quote.
Extend the Connection Your Equipment Actually Uses
SATA Extension Cable for Data, Power and Slimline Connections
A cable that falls a little short can complicate an otherwise straightforward installation. BespokeCable BC-DAG015 SATA extension cables add reach inside storage equipment, PCs and test fixtures without changing the interface at either end. Choose a data-only, power-only, or combined connection to match your existing assembly.
The important distinction is what each connector carries. A 15-pin power extension does not transmit data, and a 13-pin Slimline SATA connector is not interchangeable with 16-pin Micro SATA. Use the table below to identify a starting configuration, then match the mating connector and wiring before ordering.
BC-DAG015 Configuration Guide
| Configuration | Connection extended | Ordering reference |
|---|---|---|
| 7-pin male to female | SATA data only; the drive needs a separate power connection | 7-pin version: confirm S/7 suffix against the product photo |
| 13-pin male to female | Slimline SATA data and power, commonly used with compatible slim optical drives | BC-DAG015-13 |
| 15-pin male to female | SATA power only; no data path | BC-DAG015-15 |
| 22-pin male to female | Standard combined SATA data and power | BC-DAG015-22 |
| 22-pin male to female with latch | Combined data and power with additional connector retention | BC-DAG015-L22 |

For the 7-pin option, the existing product listing uses BC-DAG015-S, while the photo is marked BC-DAG015-7. Please include the photo or specify “7-pin data extension” in your inquiry so we can check the order reference before production.
Not sure whether you need an extension or a replacement cable? Compare the wider SATA cable range, or send us a photo of the connection and the extra distance you need.
Compare the Five SATA Extension Configurations
Start with the connection that needs extra reach. These five options are not interchangeable: compare the pin count, connector shape, and whether the circuit carries data, power, or both.

P/N: BC-DAG015-7
Extend the data connection when the drive already has a suitable power lead. This male-to-female 7-pin option adds routing flexibility without combining the two circuits. Include the original cable length in your inquiry so the complete data path can be reviewed for your intended link speed.

P/N: BC-DAG015-13
Bring a matching Slimline SATA connection within reach of a slim optical drive or compatible assembly. The 13-pin interface combines data and power in a single connector. Send a close-up of the mating port to distinguish this version from standard SATA and Micro SATA.

P/N: BC-DAG015-15
Add reach to the drive-side SATA power connection while leaving the data cable separate. This 15-pin extension is useful when the power harness doesn’t reach the drive bay. Confirm the supply rails, drive load, and required length before selecting the wire construction.

P/N: BC-DAG015-22
Extend a combined SATA drive connection with one 22-pin male-to-female assembly. Separate data and power conductors run between the matching connector housings. Check housing clearance and cable reach, especially where the drive sits behind a tray, bracket, or closely spaced enclosure panel.

P/N: BC-DAG015-L22
Choose the locking-latch 22-pin layout when the assembly requires connector retention. The latch needs a compatible mating feature and room for release. Use the pictured configuration for a fit review; the presence of a latch alone does not establish a vibration rating.
Check the Slimline Connector Before Extending It
A slim optical-drive connection can look close to a standard SATA drive connector in a small photo. The 13-pin version shown here uses the Slimline SATA format, with a different power section from the 22-pin standard SATA interface.
Before ordering, photograph the connector face and measure the available space behind the drive. Check both ends, not just the drive socket: this extension expects a matching Slimline SATA connection at the other end. It does not convert a standard 22-pin connection into Slimline SATA.
For a 16-pin legacy drive connector, compare our Micro SATA adapter instead. A clear connector photo is more useful for selection than the drive size alone.

No. The 15-pin version carries power only. Data travels through a separate SATA connection. If the power lead is too short, you don’t need to add another junction to the data path.
No. Jacket color is not a performance rating. Specify the required link rate and evaluate the selected data-bearing assembly with the host, drive, and complete cable route. The 15-pin power-only model has no data-rate specification.
Avoid planning a chain of passive extensions. Each added junction and length affects the connection, while power extensions also add resistance. A single, appropriately specified replacement cable is usually a better starting point when you can replace the original lead.
Order the added reach your route actually needs, with reasonable room for assembly and strain relief. Also provide the existing cable length. There is no blanket 6Gb/s guarantee for an extension considered separately from the rest of the connection.
No. It is a Slimline SATA extension, commonly associated with compatible slim optical drives. Micro SATA uses a different interface, and drive size alone is not enough to identify the connector. Send a close-up before ordering if the interface is uncertain.
No. The latch is a retention feature. Hot plugging depends on the host, drive, power sequencing, connector arrangement, and system design. For ordinary installation or service, power down the equipment before changing the connection.
These are internal SATA-interface extensions, not an automatic substitute for an external storage cable or enclosure. External routing may require different connector protection, shielding, retention, and environmental provisions. Describe the installation so the appropriate assembly can be reviewed.
The existing listing and image use different suffixes. Please reference the 7-pin data-extension photo in your inquiry. We will confirm the order reference with the selected assembly before supply, rather than assuming that the two markings represent different products.
Power down and inspect seating, keying, cable strain, and the power connection. If the original connection worked, compare it without the extension to isolate the change. Repeated errors or resets call for a review of the full data path and drive supply, not an assumption that a longer cable will help.
Yes, include the selected configuration and the checks you need in your inquiry. Sample terms, available reports, and compliance documentation should be confirmed for that assembly. A general factory credential does not establish that every cable variant has passed a particular product test.
Send the required length and tolerance, pin configuration, load or link-rate requirements, quantity, and destination. We can review OEM identification and packaging needs alongside the cable. Pricing, minimum quantity, and lead time are confirmed in the quotation rather than assumed from a standard page description.

How to Specify a SATA Extension for Your Assembly
Start with the reason the original cable no longer reaches. A relocated drive bay, a service-access requirement, and a crowded enclosure can call for different solutions. The right extension should make assembly easier without leaving an unsupported connector or a coil of unnecessary cable beside the drive.
Measure the Route, Not Just the Gap
Measure along the intended cable path, including bends around brackets and enough clearance to insert and remove the connector. Tell us how much cable is already present. For a data-bearing extension, the original lead, added lead, and extra mating junction all affect the complete link; a short extension is not an independent allowance on top of an already long cable.
If replacing the original lead is practical, a correctly sized SATA data cable can avoid the additional junction. An extension is most useful where the existing harness must remain in place or access to its source is restricted.
Review Power Separately from Data
For the 13-, 15-, and 22-pin versions, provide the drive model and its power requirements. Specify which supply rails and control connections must pass through. Connector pin count does not determine the finished cable’s current capacity, and an extension does not increase the power supply’s output.
Wire size, contact construction, added length, and load all matter to voltage drop and heating. If the application is a power-harness layout rather than a data connection, the SATA power extension page is the more focused starting point. Do not treat a drive-side SATA extension as a substitute for a PSU-specific modular cable.
Allow Space for the Housing and Latch
Check the full connector envelope, not only the width of the contacts. A connector may mate electrically but still foul a tray wall or force the cable into a sharp bend. For BC-DAG015-L22, verify that the mating component accepts the latch and that a technician can reach the release after installation.
Support the cable close enough to prevent its weight or routing tension from loading the drive connector. Do not rely on a latch to compensate for a strained cable route. Requirements for vibration, temperature or repeated service should be agreed for the actual assembly rather than inferred from its appearance.
Approve a Sample in the Intended System
Before a repeat order, check connector fit, keying, wiring and length against the agreed drawing. Install with the equipment powered down unless the complete system is specifically designed and approved for hot plugging. Hold the housings during insertion or removal, release any latch first, and avoid pulling on the wires.
Evaluate drive detection and sustained data transfer in the target hardware. For a power-bearing extension, also assess the drive supply under the expected load, including startup where relevant. Record the cable configuration and total route used in the evaluation so subsequent orders reproduce the approved setup.
