2.54mm IDC Cable Configuration Guide
Custom 2.54mm IDC Ribbon Cable Assemblies for Internal Equipment
BespokeCable manufactures 2.54mm IDC ribbon cable assemblies for internal board connections, equipment wiring, and documented legacy replacements. The range covers 6 to 64 positions, with clip- and ferrite-equipped configurations where the installation calls for them.
You can specify the length and wiring around your equipment instead of adapting the route to a fixed cable. Send a board-header reference, a drawing, or an existing sample. We can discuss the assembly from that starting point and help identify any details needed before production.

Product Configurations

P/N: BC-CAI001-G254-6
A six-position assembly for the matching two-row header. Its small connector count supports a defined internal connection without unused cable width; tell us the required route and orientation between the endpoints.

P/N: BC-CAI001-G254-8
This eight-position cable provides a flat route between compatible headers. Use the board reference to establish the mating interface, then choose a finished length that leaves access for installation.

P/N: BC-CAI001-G254-10
Choose the ten-position configuration when the board uses the corresponding header. The assembly can be designed around a short internal route or a specific connection map, without assigning a protocol based on contact count.

P/N: BC-CAI001-G254-12
A twelve-position option for a defined board connection. Include the available cover clearance when selecting the connector and strain-relief arrangement, particularly where the ribbon leaves beside tall components.

P/N: BC-CAI001-G254-14
This fourteen-position ribbon assembly keeps the conductors together along the internal route. The selected header and electrical map establish its function; the product reference identifies the starting configuration.

P/N: BC-CAI001-G254-16
A sixteen-position option for equipment with a matching connector. For a prototype, a route sketch can help establish the length before the enclosure dimensions and assembly sequence are fully settled.

P/N: BC-CAI001-G254-18
The eighteen-position version provides an alternative to moving up to a larger listed contact count. Choose it for the actual board interface and include any intentionally unused positions in the connection schedule.

P/N: BC-CAI001-G254-20
A twenty-position cable for a specified two-row header arrangement. Show the exit direction at both ends so the ribbon can reach the mating locations without twisting.

P/N: BC-CAI001-G254-24
This twenty-four-position assembly supports a defined multi-circuit connection. When several similar cables share an enclosure, endpoint identification helps keep each assembly at its intended board location.

P/N: BC-CAI001-G254-26
A twenty-six-position option for the corresponding board interface. If the project instead needs a DB25 transition, provide both endpoint references so the cable is quoted as that separate construction.

P/N: BC-CAI001-G254-30
Choose this thirty-position version for the matching contact layout. The useful installed length includes the route around obstructions, not only the direct distance between board connectors.

P/N: BC-CAI001-G254-34
The thirty-four-position assembly can be reviewed for a documented internal connection. A legacy drive application may have specific wiring or twists, which should be stated rather than inferred from the pin count.

P/N: BC-CAI001-G254-40
A forty-position cable for the specified board interface. A general 40-conductor assembly is not automatically equivalent to a specialized 80-conductor ATA cable; identify that requirement separately where it applies.

P/N: BC-CAI001-G254-50
This fifty-position version provides a wider ribbon connection for a defined equipment map. Include the route width and connector access in the sample review before repeating the assembly in quantity.

P/N: BC-CAI001-G254-60
A sixty-position configuration for a matching higher-contact-count header. Plan support and clearance for the wider ribbon, especially where it turns close to the connector or passes a chassis edge.

P/N: BC-CAI001-G254-64
The sixty-four-position option is the largest listed count in this range. It is a starting point for the correct header and wiring, with length and identification developed around the equipment.

P/N: BC-CAI001-G254-C
The clip type adds a defined retention arrangement to the selected IDC connection. Include the mating hardware and release space in the dimensional review so the clip can be engaged and accessed in the enclosure.

P/N: BC-CAI001-G254-F
This configuration adds a ferrite component for a project with a defined interference-control requirement. Ferrite material, position, and fit should follow the application; its presence alone does not guarantee EMC compliance.
A Familiar Interface With a Custom Cable Route
The 2.54mm interface is widely used for two-row internal connections. In the referenced ribbon construction, adjacent conductors are spaced at 1.27mm. Keeping connector pitch and conductor spacing separate makes the specification clearer when selecting the cable and termination.
The listed contact counts help you find the appropriate starting configuration. They do not establish that every board with the same number of contacts uses the same keying or wiring.

Retention and Ferrite Options for the Installation
A clip can help when the selected mating system needs extra retention. A ferrite-equipped assembly may be relevant when you’ve identified an interference problem. Select both options for a specific purpose rather than adding them as general promises of ruggedness or noise immunity.
We can discuss clip access, ferrite position, and cable support with your installation drawing. Electrical or environmental acceptance criteria should describe the actual requirement.
Custom Connections Beyond Two Identical Headers
Some projects need a header-to-D-sub transition or another endpoint rather than two matching IDC connectors. We can review those assemblies from the connection map and component references.
For common starting points, see DB9 ribbon cables or DB25 ribbon cables. The different position counts at the two ends need an explicit mapping, including any unused positions.

We can review a multi-connector arrangement by its positions, orientation, and electrical map. Show the distances between connectors rather than providing only an overall cable length.
Yes, we can discuss partial connection patterns. The drawing should distinguish an electrically unused position from a physically blocked connector cavity.
The stripe is a conductor reference. Its relationship to contact numbering depends on the termination orientation and wiring drawing, so use it alongside those details.
Yes. List each configuration and quantity separately. Individual assembly references make it easier to keep the correct cables together during packing and installation.
Custom lengths can be discussed. State the measurement endpoints and the tolerance needed for the installation rather than relying on the example length alone.
Tell us the required records before the quotation. We can confirm which documents are available for the selected components and wire construction.
Not by default. Continuous movement requires a cable construction and bend conditions selected for that duty. Share the motion requirements so we can consider another assembly if needed.

Buying a 2.54mm Ribbon Cable for Your Equipment
A useful cable specification connects the electrical design to how the product is assembled. It should make the sample easy to evaluate and the accepted build easy to reorder.
New Boards and Existing Machines Need Different Starting Information
For a new board, the connector reference and mechanical layout can define the cable before hardware is available. For an older machine, a working sample, equipment manual, and photographs of the installed route may be more useful. We can work through the inquiry with either set of information.
Legacy names such as IDE, floppy, or GPIO should be accompanied by the actual wiring requirement. A matching connector count doesn’t capture drive-specific twists, blocked positions, or specialized cable construction.
Choose a Length for the Signals and the Route
A listed manufacturing length does not guarantee every interface will operate over that distance. Signal type, return paths, and the surrounding equipment affect how much cable is suitable. Before choosing the longest available option, tell us about a long route or sensitive signals.
At the mechanical level, allow the cable to follow the enclosure without rubbing an edge or loading the connector. Extra length should serve a purpose, such as installation access, rather than collect as an uncontrolled bundle.
Compare the Complete Supply
Include the connector choice, cable construction, identification, and test requirements when comparing quotations. Current capacity, temperature limits, and compliance records belong to the specified assembly and its materials; a wire style alone does not establish them for every finished cable.
Send the sample quantity and expected repeat volume with your inquiry. We can discuss a practical build without requiring you to commit to bulk production before you evaluate the configuration.
